Stay Tuned In Luke’s account of the Christmas story, we read that God sent the angel Gabriel to Zechariah and then to Mary. But each of them had a different response. Zechariah didn’t believe and Mary did. When Mary believed, God used her in big ways! But Zechariah, on the other hand, was stricken with silence because he did not believe. (Luke 1:20) The unique thing about this is that the one who did not believe was a priest. We would think that a priest would quickly have faith to believe when God speaks. Unfortunately, that is not always the case. A priest is defined as “one who draws near to the presence of God.” Today, as spiritual leaders in the Body of Christ, we are called to be New Testament priests. But just because someone is in the presence of God doesn’t mean that they are always in tune to the voice of God. I don’t know the reason why the priest Zechariah was not in tune with the voice of God, but the fact remains that he didn’t believe the angel when God was speaking to him. Just like God spoke to Zechariah and Mary and Joseph and the Shepherds and the Wise Men, God speaks to us today. One of my prayer requests to God every Christmas is for Him to show me something fresh and new about this Greatest Story Ever Told. And He always does. His message to me was simple this week: “Stay tuned in to Me, because I am ready to do great things in the Body of Christ in our upcoming season. But you’ve got to stay tuned in, or else you will miss the plans I have for you.” In the busyness of this season, I want to encourage you to spend some quality time with the Lord. When it comes to our important role of ministry in our homes and ministry at the church, this is vitally important. Sit at His feet. Listen to His voice. Get close to His heartbeat. He wants to speak into your life. Stay tuned. Pastor Randy
