Q & A for Eva: What ministries are you involved in? Heart and Hands; occasionally help out with Mpact ministries and currently seeking to volunteer in some aspect of children's Sunday school. Why are you involved in ministry? Being involved in ministry is a way to actively live out my faith, grow spiritually, mature in the Lord, and give of the gifts God has so graciously given to me. What is your favorite worship song? Breath on Me; Jesus, Jesus, Jesus Favorite Scripture and why? I don't think I could ever limit myself to one favorite scripture. There are certain scriptures that I cling to for a season depending on what is going on in my life at the time, whether trials or rejoicing. For this season, I cling to Psalm 121. Favorite Bible Character and why? Again, I fail to be able to depict only one favorite Bible character. I favor all the writers of the gospel. I thank God that they were willing to be used by God and guided by the Holy Spirit. In 1 John, John writes about how they heard, saw with their own eyes and with their hands had touched the Father that appeared to them and that it made their joy complete to be able to share what they had seen and heard so that we may also have fellowship with them. What have you learned about ministry lately? I have learned that, for me, being involved with ministry is a step of faith and also a means of stepping out of my comfort zone, which can be very intimidating. I have learned that I must decrease so that God may increase and for me that means dying daily to my flesh and becoming more like the Spirit. Why do you tithe? I do it out of mere obedience to the Word. I have many testimonies of how God has provided (not just financially) and has been faithful to his promises connected with tithing. What are your spiritual gifts? Helps, organization |
Q & A for Elder Leo: What ministries are you involved in? I am involved in the Armor Bearer ministry serving Pastor Randy and an Elder in the leadership of Fortress Church. Why are you involved in ministry? I believe The Lord calls each one of us to serve in some capacity. What is your favorite worship song? Lord of the Breakthrough Favorite Scripture and why? John 3:16. This scripture speaks and has spoken life into me as far as I can remember. The essence of who God is revolves around the fact of Giving. He gave his Son, Jesus gave up his life, He gives eternal life, He gave us the Bread of Life and so on... In return I have given up the "old Leo" in order to become the "Leo" God intended me to be. It's a daily struggle but I know He's faithful to renew my strength every day. Favorite Bible Character and why? If I could be like anyone it would have to be Jesus. Simply put, he was well rounded, did everything right and new what to say and when to say it and never made any mistakes. What have you learned about ministry lately? That God sometimes puts you in a place where it forces you to grow. It can sometimes be very uncomfortable but very rewarding in the long term. Why do you tithe? God gave and so should I. One of the other reasons is that He says He takes care of everything else if we give Him the tithe. I've seen many time in my life where God has blessed my life because I trusted in Him. Spiritual Gifts: My spiritual gift is helps. What do you enjoy most about Fortress? What we enjoy most about Fortress Church is that we feel loved, prayed for and are rest assured that our family is in great hands. We enjoy the teaching, the fellowship and the opportunities to serve. There is a time in your life when you know God has put you in a church where you belong. We are happy here and consider Fortress Church family.
From Pastor Randy: Leo and Eva have a heart for God and a heart for ministry. I love the way they are both overcome the challenges of life to live in the will of the Father.
When Leo serves as an Armorbearer to me, his heart of a servant stands out - as he does anything necessary to make my role easier. An a new Elder to the church board, I see that Leo has a "teachable spirit," always eager to learn and take his role in ministry to higher levels.
Even though Eva has a challenging schedule, she make time for people and for ministry. Both Leo and Eva are great parents to Miah, which is a great example to us all.
