Our Mandate: Be Faithful Servants
Since the year 2000 when my wife Molly and I took over as directors of the orphanage ministry, we have seen how people from Fortress have been faithful to this ministry. This ministry has been through 9-11, drug lord wars, high gas prices and now a floundering U.S. economy.
Back in 2000, we spoke to the orphanage director and asked him what would be the best thing that our group could do for the orphanage. He told us that, in his experience, it had to be consistent financial support. So we decided to commit to giving the orphanage at least $300 per month and we haven’t skipped a month yet. This $300 does not include food, repairs, medicine, etc. that we have provided through the years.
The orphanage director gave us a plaque to present to the church for all the hard work and commitment that Fortress has shown to the Orphanage Ministry. He wanted to thank people at Fortress who pray for this ministry, support the fundraisers, go on trips, etc.; to put this simply, those who have donated their time, talent and treasure. If there are words that describe all the people who have been a part of the ministry, it has to be “faithful servants.” “But be sure to fear the Lord and serve Him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you.” 1 Samuel 12:24
